About 2020 Pam Farr Summer Shakespeare Studio

The world feels like it’s at a standstill, but at The Old Globe we are still training tomorrow’s artists.

Every summer, the Pam Farr Summer Shakespeare Studio takes San Diego-area high school students on a four-week journey that deepens their understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare’s works by using his plays as models for investigating and linking them to their own experiences.

This year, our students will be exploring Romeo and Juliet with our expert teaching artists in late summer. Students will enjoy an intensive curriculum of acting, movement, music, voice and speech, as well as writing classes, culminating in a special performance.

For the first time, all 25 students will be invited to take the program tuition-free—which is why we need your support. Help us deliver this vital program and change the lives of 25 future leaders in the world of theatre.

Partner with us to support the talented students participating in the Pam Farr Summer Shakespeare Studio this summer.

Very special thanks to our lead sponsors Renée and Bob Wailes. Thanks to their generous donation, every dollar you give (up to $30,000) will be matched one-for-one!

The program will run July 13 to August 1, 2020, with a final performance taking place on August 1. For more information or to make a donation, contact Keely Tidrow at ktidrow@theoldglobe.org or (323) 547-9995.

A Studio for All

The Pam Farr Summer Shakespeare Studio is an inclusive program that makes Shakespeare accessible to diverse student populations including LGBTQ, non-binary, students with disabilities, students of color, and others with less opportunity to explore theatre arts.

"I grew up attending the Globe with my school and I always loved the magic of the theatre. When I heard about the studio for the first time, I knew it was something I wanted to do! The studio program provided me with new lifelong friends and a strong community of other aspiring performers my age. I learned so much about Shakespeare, how to properly use my voice on stage, and how to collaborate with a team. After attending studio, my sense of self and acting craft have both skyrocketed!"
